Tom earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis in 2008. During law school he worked for the Shelby County District Attorney's Office and was granted permission to practice law by the Supreme Court of Tennessee while still a student. He also served two years on the Student Bar Association as a Class Representative.
Prior to opening The Law Offices of Thomas A. Smith, Tom worked as a Contract Attorney for various law firms and companies in Charlotte, NC. He regularly worked on complex litigation matters involving the banking, technology, and medical fields.
Tom brings with him to the practice of law a strong desire to help others and to connect with people on a personal level.
Tom currently lives on James Island. He is a passionate outdoorsman, kayaker, and tennis player. He can regularly be found during his spare time on the creeks and barrier islands surrounding Charleston.
